I arrived this morning to visit Allie. She has previously been in an open bassinet. However, last night her temperature dropped and they moved her to an incubator. I did not know she had a problem over night until I arrived and i saw her in an incubator. It was beyond shocking and I had a melt down in the ICU. I am ready to have her home. She will have to be in the incubator for 24 hours then they will put her in an open crib and see if she can maintain her temperature. They will go back and forth until Allie proves she can hold her temperature. I did not realize how fortunate I was to be able to touch my little girl. With her in the incubator I can only touch her during feedings. Please pray that Allie's body is able to maintain her temperature and that she does not have any more set backs.
Although Allie is still healthy and her problems are typical of a premie it is still difficult to see your baby in the NICU. The longer she is there the more it has worn on me emotionally. It is hard to see her or other babies cry and not be able to comfort them. I just want to pick her up and walk out of there. I am more than ready to have her home. Due to her over night changes she won't be home before Wednesday. I am not really sure when shell be home.
I'm so sorry, Kasey! I'm praying that she is able to come home with you soon!
